WELCOME to CBE's 125th Anniversary Celebration

On March 2, 2010, the Calgary Board of Education will reach a remarkable milestone as it proudly celebrates the 125th anniversary of its constitution as a public school board. This is an outstanding achievement for a city as young as Calgary. Aside from the CPR, the RCMP, and the Calgary Herald, there are few local organizations that have survived and thrived for more than a century.

The 125th anniversary of the Calgary Board of Education is an opportunity for all Calgarians to share their pride in public education. CBE teachers, staff and students, in particular, can celebrate their connection with and contribution to our outstanding school district. All Calgarians can renew their association with the CBE and take pride in the accomplishments of their innovative public school system.

Throughout the 2009-2010 school year, the CBE will be honouring the significance of the anniversary with a variety of activities. Some will be system-wide and involve the public; others will be based on the school community and focused on students, parents and school staff.

We invite everyone to celebrate in the way that means most to you. Dust off your fond memories of teachers or students who made a difference in your life, dig out your school year books and take a moment to chuckle at your hair and clothes (What were you thinking?), tell your children or grandchildren about when you were in school, touch base with the school(s) you attended, or participate in one or more of the activities. We’d love it if you shared your memories, thoughts, and good wishes through this website. Send us a note, or a story, or a poem.
