Calgary Board of Education responds to provincial budget

CALGARY – The Calgary Board of Education is reviewing what the provincial budget means for students in Calgary for 2012-13 and beyond.

The Board of Trustees expects Administration to review the details of the provincial budget and report on what it means for public education in Calgary.  The report, which will take time to prepare, will be presented to the Board of Trustees at a public meeting as early as Feb. 21.

“We’ve been looking forward to the budget because the government has been very clear about the importance of education,” said Lynn Ferguson, Vice-chair of the Board of Trustees.  “As a board, we will be keen to fully understand what the provincial budget means in terms of sustainable funding for student learning.”
