Willow Park School closed for remainder of week due to fire
CALGARY — Parents and students are advised that Willow Park School will remain closed for the rest of the week due to an overnight fire.
Families are assured that the Calgary Board of Education knows that it is important to have children in school and is working diligently on contingency plans.
At this point, it is too early to know the damage to the school. Police and fire officials are continuing their investigations. CBE facilities and environmental services staff will also conduct assessments when they are able to do so.
Naomi Johnson, chief superintendent of schools, said that as others are looking at these investigations, the CBE’s focus is on looking after students and families. “We are committed to having students back in school as soon as possible.”
Parents and students will be updated on a regular basis and are asked to continue to check the CBE and Willow Park School website.
