two new advisory councils will enhance student learning
Two new advisory councils will help distinguish the CBE as a culturally competent organization. The CBE is proud of the cultural diversity within our schools and offices. To recognize and celebrate the important role cultural diversity plays in shaping and defining the CBE as an organization, two new advisory councils have been established.

The Cultural Advisory Council was established in September 2010 to give counsel and advice to help inform decisions and policy that support the concept of diversity and cultural competency at the CBE.
The Elder Advisory Council was established in October 2010 and its focus will be to build bridges with members of First Nation, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) communities while addressing Alberta Education’s Goal 3 of improving the learning outcomes of our Aboriginal students.
To read more about both of these advisory councils, results from the CBE employee survey on the organization’s cultural competency and other stories about cultural diversity at the CBE, view the Fall 2010 issue of the Valuing Diversity newsletter.
