A good partner is a person or an organization that works well with others to reach mutually beneficial goals. A good friend is someone who does their very best to help others realize their potential. The Calgary Board of Education is pleased to say that the Calgary International Children’s Festival, the recipient of this month’s Lighthouse Award is both an outstanding partner and a great friend to the CBE.
The Calgary International Children’s Festival has been a longstanding and generous partner with the CBE for 23 years. Over those years, thousands of CBE students and many more throughout Alberta have been treated to a festival like no other. The Calgary International Children’s Festival program offers active engagement and quality performing arts experiences from leading Canadian and international companies. The presentations have strong ties to curriculum and reinforce the CBE Ends statements. In particular, there is a connection to Personal Development – Each student will acquire the skills, attitudes and knowledge to achieve their personal highest potential.
Through their outreach program the CICF provided nearly 1000 free tickets to our students in each of the past two years. Even after losing critical sponsorship, the CICF, used its own funds and other sponsorships to keep its commitment to our students.
The Calgary International Children’s Festival is a significant and valuable event in the lives of children and staff. The Calgary Board of Education is truly grateful for the enormous effort and generosity of the Calgary International Children’s Festival. Congratulations to all the staff and volunteers that make the festival such a treat for our students each year, we truly appreciate your work. Thank you!
