CBE helps kick off Mayor's Annual Food Drive
A not-so-serious battle of shopping carts took place between Mayor Nenshi and many of the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank sponsors on Nov. 23rd at the Whitehorn Safeway to kick off the Annual Mayor’s Food Drive. The goal was to get everyone excited about committing to the great need in our city for food to support the Calgary Food Bank. CBE Trustees Pamela King and Joy Bowen-Eyre showed off their musical talents, construction capabilities as well as their competitive shopping skills at the event.

The 24th Mayor’s Annual Christmas Food Drive runs from Dec. 1–24, 2012 on behalf of the Calgary Food Bank. The CBE is one of the largest donors to this initiative. Last year, students and employees at 130 CBE schools and service units contributed 140,687 lbs. in food donations and $11,471.97 in cash donations to feed hungry Calgarians. This commitment of students and staff supported the Food Bank to help feed 136,153 people last year, 43% of whom were children. CBE students and employees are participating again this year to make a difference in their community.
