Calgary Police Service Information
The Internet has many benefits. Unfortunately in some situations children
and adults may be exploited or victimized. The message that Calgary Police
Service sends to our students was very clear: learn about the benefits
and risks of the Internet in order to make the online experience as safe
as possible. Whenever children access the Internet, parent and teacher
involvement is critical. On their website, the Calgary Police Service
provides tips for parents and kids to protect themselves while online.

The Calgary Police Service recommends that everyone who uses a computer
in the home follow home security rules. An Internet Family Safety Contract
is available on their website, just follow this link: Internet
Security Policy for Families (PDF). The contract is also available
in this newsletter.
Take note that reviewing regularly the computer's history is a good way
to stay informed of the places children visit online. The history provides
a list of the websites that have been viewed from the computer.
