The CBE's progress towards achieving the outcomes of Ends 3:Citizenship is summarized in the latest monitoring report submitted to the Board of Trustees on May 19, 2009.

Some Grade 12 student comments from the High School Exit Survey:

I believe my school was an environment in which I was able to flourish as a learner and a citizen. I enjoyed my courses and always enjoyed coming to school. I've gained skills and abilities which I will use in the future to help me be a positive contributor to the community.

School has helped me grow as a person and was a positive experience in my life. High school has taught me many things, not just what I have to learn, but to respect others and treat them how I would like to be treated.

What are the indicators used to measure Citizenship?

Each student will:

  1. participate in developing and maintaining our Canadian civil, democratic society;
  2. understand the responsibilities of citizenship in local, national and international contexts;
  3. respect and embrace cultural diversity;
  4. develop the skills necessary to work and communicate effectively with others;
  5. actively contribute to creating a better local and global community.

How do we know we are achieving our outcomes?

We monitor through:

  1. Alberta Education's Accountability Pillar Summary and Survey
  2. CBE's High School Exit Survey
  3. Inventory of Programs Survey
  4. 21st Century Initiatives
  5. Provincial Exam Results
  6. School Development Plans
