Science Alternative Program Expression of Interest
Thank you to the parents that recently attended the Calgary Board of Education open house on February 3, 2011, to determine if there was sufficient interest in the opening of an elementary Science Alternative Program in Area I for the 2011-2012 school year.

Although a number of parents attended the open house and completed Expression of Interest forms, there was not enough interest to open a Science Alternative Program in Area I at this time.  Langevin School will continue to be the designated Science Alternative Program location for Area I.

We will continue to monitor interest in this program and review this program offering in the future.

Description of Area:

Area I is comprised of 28 communities in the northwest and southwest of the city. The description of Area I is as follows: north - 144 Avenue NW; east - Shaganappi Trail, John Laurie Boulevard, Charleswood Drive, Crowchild Trail; south - Bow River, 16th Avenue (Trans-Canada Highway), south to the community boundary of Crestmont; west – community of boundary of Crestmont, Valley Ridge, Tuscany and to the city limits.

Area I has 36 schools with 15,834 students in

• 2 Elementary/ Junior High and Middle Schools
• 5 Junior High Schools
• 0 Junior/Senior High Schools (Grades 7-12)
• 3 Senior High Schools (Grades 10-12)
