Patricia Cochrane
Trustee, Wards 8 & 9

Pat Cochrane, Trustee for Wards 8 & 9, was first elected in the 1999 by-election. Wards 8 & 9 are located in Calgary's inner city. Pat is currently serving as the Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Pat has strong beliefs about public education and has been involved since 1993, the year her daughter started Kindergarten. Pat could be found in the classroom, on the field trips and at parent meetings. She acted as a Key Communicator, then Vice-Chair and Chair of the School Council. For much of this time she was also actively involved as an advocate for public education through her work with SPEAK (Support Public Education - Act for Kids).

Pat says she can't think of more important work than something that promotes the development of our future citizens - public education. "I believe in public education because it gives every child the opportunity to become the best they can be - regardless of race, gender, religion or economic status."

Pat is a Founding Governor and serves on the Board of Governors of EducationMatters, Calgary’s Public Education Trust. Pat serves Calgary's youth as the Co-Chair of Child and Family Services Authority of Calgary and Area. She is also a former board member for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary. Pat is an active supporter of the theatre community in Calgary and is a member of the Samaritan Club of Calgary, a 100-year old service club for women.

Pat and her husband, Joel, have one daughter, Beth.
