Lynn Ferguson
Trustee, Wards 3 & 4
Lynn Ferguson, Trustee for Wards 3 & 4, is serving her third term with the school board. She represents communities and schools which are located in northeast and north central parts of Calgary. Lynn is currently serving as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Lynn is passionate about public education, its mission to develop responsible citizens in a democracy and its role as an agent of social cohesion. She is committed to the important discussions on defining and achieving success, and to providing quality learning opportunities so that every student can be successful.
Lynn’s past experience as a parent advocate saw her serving as a founding member and vice-president of the Calgary Association of Parents and School Councils. She also spent seventeen years on various school councils. Lynn was a member of the Steering Committee for Support Public Education - Act for Kids (SPEAK) which presented to the Alberta government Standing Policy Committee on Learning and Employment in 2001. She was also a founding member and past vice-president of KIDS FIRST, a parent organization which advocates for tax reform for families. Lynn upholds a family tradition of public service as her great grandfather was the treasurer of the first school board in Edmonton.
Lynn lived and worked overseas in Saudi Arabia for seven years, where she was a librarian in an international school for ESL students.
Lynn holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) from the University of Winnipeg and undertook postgraduate studies on the Connaught Fellowship at the University of Toronto. Lynn and her husband have been married for 34 years and they have three grown children.
