conducting research in the CBE

The Calgary Board of Education values its many relationships with researchers from a variety of universities, agencies and institutions.

It is expected that all research conducted in the CBE will:

  • protect the integrity of the learning environment, respecting the time, privacy, welfare and rights of students, teachers and parents;
  • support and align with CBE's values and Ends Statements;
  • be a potential benefit to the CBE directly or, indirectly, the research must advance knowledge about students or education in an area of interest to the CBE;
  • be transparent, with all processes, instruments, uses, ownership and possible interpretation of the data being communicated in advance and subject to scrutiny by the CBE.
  • conform to CBE Administrative Regulation 3032 - Educational Research and Experimentation.

"Conducting Research in CBE Schools" outlines timelines and procedures for prospective researchers.

All prospective researchers must complete the Application to Conduct Research and the Research Agreement form.
