School Supplies
Elementary students are supplied with pens, pencils, paper, notebooks (expendable supplies) through their schools (Instructional Resource Fees cover this expense). Non-expendable supplies such as geometry sets and calculators are not provided. However, students should wait until school starts to find out what, if any, of these items are needed.
Fees
Find out what you need to know about instructional fees, security deposits, noon supervision fees, elective fees, transportation fees, and fee waivers.
School Start and End Times
School start and end times vary with each school. You can find start and end times in your June newsletter, by checking the school website or phoning the school after August 29.

School Calendars
Approved traditional and modified school year calendars for the current year. The CBE has revised the system instructional calendars for the 2011-2012 school year to coordinate system-wide the days when students are not required to be in school.

Students with Special Needs

Middle Years Education
Middle Years Education refers to education offered to students between the ages of 10-15. Current research acknowledges these years as being critical in keeping our students on the path to high school completion and success in post-secondary studies and/or future careers.

The vision of the Strategy is to engage and inspire students in Career and Technology education opportunities that are dynamic and seamless as they transition into education, training and work beyond the k-12 system.
Board of Trustees
We are a board of seven trustees, elected every three years at the same time as the mayor and aldermen. We work to ensure the CBE is the best it can be for all Calgary students. Our efforts benefit every Calgarian as our students are tomorrow’s citizens and leaders.
School Councils
School councils are a very important part of the CBE. Together, School Councils and the CBE work together to promote the well-being and effectiveness of the entire school community and enhance student learning.
