Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP)
The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act strikes a balance between the public's right to know and the individual's right to privacy, as these rights relate to information held by the Calgary Board of Education. The Act ensures individuals have the right to access their own personal information. It also provides for access to other records held by the School District, and includes strict standards that the School District must follow for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
