CBE welcomes students back to school

CALGARY — The Calgary Board of Education is happy to welcome back more than 100,000 students for another exciting school year.

Students who follow the modified calendar started school on August 15, 2011, while students who follow the traditional calendar will start school on September 1, 2011.

Adding to the list of outstanding community schools and alternative programs, this school year brings several new developments including:

The launch of the All-Boys alternative program at Sir James Lougheed School for K-5 students
The expansion of the Mandarin Bilingual Program to a second location at Midnapore School
The opening of the new Ernest Manning High School at 20 Springborough Blvd. S.W.
The expansion of the Spanish Bilingual Program to an 8th location at Bishop Pinkham School
The move of students at the National Sport School to Canada Olympic Park at 88 Canada Olympic Road S.W.

These additions to many regular and alternative programs help the CBE to achieve its goal of providing learning as unique as every student.

To celebrate these new developments and the new school year, media are invited to a media availability and photo opportunity at the new Ernest Manning High School.
