CBE ratifies two-year agreement with skilled trades union
CALGARY — The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) has ratified a two-year memorandum of agreement with the Bargaining Council of the CBE Construction and Maintenance Skilled Trades Unions.
The trades bargaining council is made up of five trades unions and represents 127 permanent and temporary CBE carpenters, electricians, plumbers, sheet metal workers, painters and glaziers.
The agreement includes a first-year lump sum payment of $500 for all employees on staff at the date of ratification and a general wage increase of 2.4 per cent effective Feb. 1, 2012 for journeymen. Market and parity adjustments were also included in the terms of agreement. The agreement would be in effect until Jan. 31, 2013.
Bargaining council members ratified the agreement Aug. 3. The CBE Board of Trustees ratified it Aug. 15.
