Calgary Board of Education schools participate in National Bullying Awareness Week Activities
CALGARY — In recognition of National Bullying Awareness Week, Nov. 14-18, CBE schools are holding special events with students on anti-bullying behaviours. National Bullying Awareness Week gives students an opportunity to discuss bullying, take part in anti-bullying events and make bold statements against bullying. Media are invited to attend anti-bullying events at the following schools on Friday, Nov. 18.
Patrick Airlie School Event
A student assembly will include students taking the oath from Power of One and a pink ribbon tying ceremony that will involve every student in the school.
Time: 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Ian Bazalgette School Event
Students and staff will be wearing pink shirts for the second year in a row to honour this day. When students pay $5 for a “I Stand up to Bullying” shirt they sign a bully-free zone pledge. Students and staff will be exploring and participating in various bullying awareness activities such as role playing and coping strategies. A group of Grade 8 students will be spending the day asking questions and videotaping student responses about experiences and the after effects of bullying. This video montage will be edited and viewed by the entire school in December.
