Calgary Board of Education sells former school property for $3.2 million
CALGARY – The Calgary Board of Education has sold the former Albert Park School property for $3.2 million to Carlisle Developments.
Carlisle Developments plans to redevelop the lands for medium-density, residential housing. The Albert Park/Radisson Height community has indicated it favours this development. The sale was effective Jan. 19.
Albert Park School, at 1317 27 St. S.E., and the former David D. Oughton School were closed as part of a P3 initiative in 2005. The initiative was supported by both school communities. It resulted in construction of a new school in the community, Radisson Park School. Disposition of the Albert Park School property was planned as part of this project. The David D. Oughton School property was previously sold to the City of Calgary.
“We are delighted to finalize this sale in a way that benefits the broader community and culminates a project that resulted in a new school for students,” said Frank Coppinger, Superintendent of Facilities and Environmental Services. “This sale is part of a long-term integrated facilities strategy for the CBE.”
