CANADIAN SPACE AGENCY ASTRONAUT ROBERT THIRSK
VISITS HIS ALMA MATER

CALGARY – The Calgary Board of Education and Science Alberta Foundation are pleased to welcome world renowned astronaut Robert Thirsk as he speaks to nine hundred students of Lord Beaverbrook High School this Tuesday.

Dr. Thirsk has made visiting the school a priority during his trip through Calgary. He attended the school in the 1970s. In fact, Dr. Thirsk spent many years in CBE schools which prepared him well for a long and esteemed career in post-secondary research.

Dr. Thirsk recently spent six months aboard the International Space Station, establishing a Canadian record of time spent in space. After travelling more than 125 million kilometres in space he is eager to share his thoughts on his historic space mission during a multimedia presentation. He will then answer questions asked by students.

This event is being webcast to more than twenty locations province-wide.
