The school is holding this annual celebration in honour of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The program will feature keynote speaker, Michelle Neider, Family Services Department Manager with the Calgary Immigrant Women's Association, and a performance by Punjabi and Persian Groups. The afternoon will also feature the Forest Lawn Dancers, drama students, choir as well as Turkish, Lebanese Folklore Dancers, an oud player from Iraq, an Aboriginal performance by Wandering Spirit and much more.
There will be two performances on the afternoon of March 18th. The first performance will be from 12:35 - 2:05 p.m. and the second will run from 2:10 - 3:30 p.m. Various agency displays can be viewed from 11:15 - 12:30 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Peer Ambassador Club and is designed to celebrate diversity and to look at discrimination issues such as race, gender, age, culture, language, appearance, disability, popularity and economic status. The goal of this powerful event is to inspire meaningful insights for students and to improve the interpersonal dynamics within the school and city.
