LORD BEAVERBROOK HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
“ENERGIZE” THEIR CAREER PLANS

Dance, art and interactive activities will help Lord Beaverbrook High School students think outside the box about careers in energy at the school’s Energy Expo.

Media are invited to join some 600-800 students as they explore the vibrant career opportunities that keep our energy economy on the go. “Grade 10-12 students typically have limited knowledge of what careers are available in energy,” says Lord Beaverbrook career practitioner Joan Kathol. “This Energy Expo will create student awareness of traditional and alternative energy and connect students with industry and education representatives so they get the big picture on the diverse and dynamic jobs available within the energy sector.”

The event includes the use of student dancers, artists, and musicians to create an exciting learning environment, and also features the debut of a video showcasing student perspectives on energy. Weather permitting, the University of Calgary’s solar car and team will be in attendance as well.

Media are invited to attend Lord Beaverbrook High School’s Energy Expo Tuesday, March 23, 2010 between 12 noon - 3:30 pm in the gym. Lord Beaverbrook High School is located at 9019 Fairmount Drive SE. * Note: The opening dance performance kicks off at 12 noon in the school foyer. The Energy Expo is part of a Lord Beaverbrook project funded by BP Canada’s A+ for Energy program, which provides grants to Alberta K-12 teachers for creative energy and energy conservation education projects (www.aplusforenergy.ca).
