YOUNG CALGARY STUDENTS UNVEIL INNOVATIVE INVENTIONS
CALGARY – Over 400 young inventors from 15 participating schools around Calgary are getting ready to unveil their forward-thinking inventions at the Learning Partnership’s 5th Annual Invention Convention, held in the West Atrium of City Hall from 11:30 am- 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 21, 2010.
The Invention Convention is the culmination of The Learning Partnership’s program – I3 – Investigate! Invent! Innovate!, which is an integrated science and technology program for Grade 7 and 8 students.
In this one-of-a-kind science fair, 21st Century ingenuity meets good old fashioned elbow grease. You will see fully operational prototypes designed to make everyday life a little easier. You will also interact with the innovative students who built them. Over 100 inventions will be showcased, including Edible Tape, Improved Windmills, The Hoodie Binder, and the Ultimate Outfit for Figure Skaters.
The central purpose of the I3 program is to encourage a passion for science, mathematics and technology in all students, as well as to support creativity and cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit.
Established in 1993, The Learning Partnership (TLP) is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to championing a strong public education system in Canada through innovative programs, credible research, policy initiatives and public engagement.
