WESTGATE SCHOOL COMES IN LOUD AND CLEAR

Learning a new language is never an easy feat, so being able to hear the instructor clearly is crucial for success. As a multi-language school where teaching and learning takes place in French, English and Spanish, Westgate knows the importance of this fact, and has made use of a sound system made by FrontRow to ensure students can clearly hear their teachers. The classroom amplification system is an adaptive technology that ties together various other devices, enhancing their instructional impact.

Teachers can connect a computer, projector, TV, VCR, DVD, CD Player, MP3 player, and other teaching technology to the sound system to allow children to hear their voices and the rich multimedia content that is being played, regardless of where they’re seated.

“The entire teaching staff uses the classroom sound technology at Westgate School. The teachers are often the only language models for students, as most students do not speak French or Spanish at home, and many do not speak English at home either,” says Principal Guerthy Suggitt. “Clarity of expression, being able to hear wherever you are in the room, not to mention that teachers can use a regular voice and be heard very clearly, have been added benefits for both students and teachers in our three instructional language environment.”

On December 10th CBE staff and Westgate students will be showcasing this technology to demonstrate the positive impact it has made in the classroom.
