CBE and APEGGA work together to prepare students for future success

The CBE and The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA) are working together to deliver relevant, meaningful career and technology programs that inspire students to find their passion.
The signing of an official agreement on Sept. 14 reflects the two organizations’ commitment to provide youth with greater opportunities to expand their knowledge of science, math and engineering. Intensive study in these subjects opens up a wide range of rewarding career paths for students. |

The CBE collaborates with professional organizations to create more relevant and engaging learning experiences for our students,” says Naomi Johnson, Chief Superintendent, CBE. “APEGGA is an important career and technology partner. Together we can provide CBE students with skills and expertise to be successful in science, math and engineering careers.”
This partnership is particularly signifcant in Calgary where there are more engineers and geoscientists per capita than anywhere else in Canada. In fact, over half of APEGGA’s 60,000 Alberta members live and work in Calgary. |

“We’re excited for a number of reasons to be making this public statement about our commitment to a renewed working relationship with the CBE,” says APEGGA President Jim Smith, P.Eng. “APEGGA has long supported in-class, curriculum-related presentations by our members. Now we have the opportunity to broaden our focus to presentations directly related to careers in engineering and geoscience. Professionals are thrilled to share with kids the opportunities and benefits of a career in engineering or geoscience—of using math and science in the real world to make the world a better place.”
