resource allocation method
Parents and guardians often ask the CBE how provincial funding is distributed to schools. We use a complex process called the Resource Allocation Method, or RAM, to ensure that funds are distributed to schools based on the diverse learning needs of their students, the strategies identified in our Three-Year Education Plan and each individual school’s development plan.
It is a comprehensive process which annually considers a multitude of variables, conditions and available funding. Some of these variables include program complexity, special settings, the number of students with special needs, and the number of English language learners in a school. Funding is also allocated differently for elementary, middle and senior high schools.
The RAM can be reviewed here.
