Remembrance Day at the CBE

Nov. 09, 2016

In classrooms across the city, thousands of students learn about the contribution of our soldiers and veterans in battles like Vimy Ridge or Juno Beach. This week, CBE schools held Remembrance Day ceremonies to recognize the sacrifices made by Canadians in armed conflicts.  It is the day when history text books come alive with many veterans visiting our schools to tell real-life tales of their personal experiences.

Western Canada High School marked the day by paying tribute to war veterans and current members of the Canadian Forces through a ceremony held at the historical cenotaph in front of the school. Veterans, Members of Parliament; City of Calgary, CBE and school representatives laid wreaths to commemorate those who have served.

CBE schools and offices will be closed on Nov. 11, 2016.
