CBE's noon supervision service is guided by the chief superintendent's directives.

The Key Principles of Elementary Noon Supervision include:

  • A safe and secure place for children to have lunch.
  • A caring environment that fosters and maintains respectful, responsible behaviors.
  • Access to the service, without a wait list.
  • A drop in service.
  • Flexibility for site-based decisions at each school.

Lunch:

  • Lunch is not available at most elementary schools.
  • Microwaves or hot water may not be accessible.
  • “Food and Nutrition in School (FANS),” is a supplementary food program that is available in many schools that have children in need.
  • An emergency food shelf is available for those students that forget their lunch; the expectation is for families to replenish with similar foods or cash.

Fees:

  • Maximum fees are approved annually by the Board of Trustees during budget review.
  • Noon supervision fees are charged to non bus-eligible students. A non bus-eligible student is one who resides outside the transportation service area for their school or who attends a school other than their designated school. (Confirm bus eligibility with CBE transportation department.)
  • Income tax receipts are issued for noon supervision fees: receipts may be included as child care expenses for income tax purposes
  • Waivers are not available for noon supervision fees: parents experiencing financial hardship may discuss difficulty with the school principal to set up an alternate payment plan.
  • Noon supervision fee and transportation fee are separate fees payable for distinct services.
