Privacy & Security

CBE sets up an email account for all students when they become an active student at CBE.  Not all students use email, especially in the younger grades, but it is available to them when they need it.

Gmail through the Apps for Education infrastructure is quite different than public Gmail.  Google Apps for Education reside within a secure space (called a "walled garden") where all CBE data resides, and CBE controls the student accounts and the apps they access.  The CBE sets up the student accounts and assigns them an email address.

Gmail accounts have been set up strictly to facilitate teaching and learning using familiar technology. Students’ personal information (including report card comments, Individualized Program Plans (IPPs), student marks, or other similar information) will not be stored or communicated using Gmail or Google Apps for Education.

When students use Google Apps for Education, they are not subjected to advertising, nor is their information provided to third parties for other uses.

When students move, graduate, or leave the CBE for any reason, they no longer have access to their CBE email messages or Google Apps files or documents. If you will be leaving the CBE, please be sure to save any messages or files you will want to access in the future.
