Update on Marshall Springs School

In January 2016, we communicated to parents that Marshall Springs School was expected to be complete in March 2017. At that time an opening date for the school had not been set and we promised to communicate an opening date closer to the completion of construction.
Today, I am pleased to inform you that Marshall Springs School will open in September 2017. A September opening will ensure student learning is not disrupted this school year. Marshall Springs will accommodate students in Grades 4-8 in the first year and expand to accommodate Grades 4-9 for the second year and beyond.
I will start in my role as principal of Marshall Springs School on April 3, 2017. As the principal of Woodman School, I will support Woodman’s transition to a new principal when I leave.

Current students who live within the new school's designation area and are currently attending Woodman School or Evergreen School will automatically be transferred to the new school.
Student transfers from other CBE schools or other school districts will be accepted after the principal is in place, which will be at the beginning of April. Please check back after April 1, 2017 for more information on where to take student transfer forms.
We expect that the new school will have enough space for all of the students in its desigation area.
The construction status is updated using the Construction Projects Status Report that is presented monthly to the Board of Trustees.
Roofing is complete. Internal framing continuing. Fire spray has commenced. Masonry work continuing. Construction was negatively affected by heavy thunder storms and rain. Contractor indicating a delay in Substantial completion. This does not affect Occupancy.
