Calgary Transit Information

Calgary Transit determines the number of buses and the routes based on ridership and available resources. Some residential districts have direct routes to the designated school. These routes are public transportation and can be accessed by the general public. Many residential districts do not have direct routes. Students in these residential districts must use regular service.

The majority of high school students are transported by Calgary Transit. Yellow school bus service is provided to Centennial High School from the communities of Shawnee Slopes, Millrise, Sundance. Yellow school bus service is also provided to Henry Wise Wood High School from the community of Mahogany.

Check out the Calgary Transit First Time Rider Guide for everything you need to know about taking transit.

Questions regarding Calgary Transit busing should be directed to Calgary Transit at 403-262-1000.

As part of the CBE's 2017-18 waiver process families will need to apply for the City of Calgary's Fair Entry Program. This program offers a streamlined application process for City subsidy programs, including reduced rates for transit passes. You can find more information about the program at www.calgary.ca/fairentry.

Calgary Transit Rebate

Grade 6-12 students residing more than 2.4 km from their designated school attending a Regular Program and assigned to Calgary Transit are eligible for a rebate up to $549, meaning they will pay up to $151/year. Please ensure that you keep the passes and receipts of purchase to submit for the rebate.

Please note, international fee-paying students are not eligible for free yellow school bus service or a rebate on monthly transit passes, regardless of their program or distance from school.

Grades 6 to 9 Assigned to Calgary Transit for 2017-18

Students attending the following schools or programs are to use Calgary Transit (CT) rather than yellow school buses. In keeping with the system-wide strategy of moving more middle school riders to transit, all middle school routes will be reviewed annually to assess whether a move to Calgary Transit can be accommodated.  Please note this list is subject to change from year to year:
