Registration in the AADAC: Action Program is through Alberta Health Services located at this site or through an alternate medical referral. Intake is ongoing by appointment or walk-in. The length of stay in the program is generally twelve weeks, dependent on client need.
Students in this program do not attend the on-site school fulltime, as treatment is the primary focus. All clients in the program do however receive excellent education support to help them continue in their studies or to prepare them for a return to school. Classroom learning is highly personalized and planned in collaboration with student and family during intake. Prior to returning to their home school, transition plans are carefully co-ordinated.
A fullday at the AADAC school means time for group counselling, individual support time, blocks of learning time, goal setting and recreation with peers. A low student; teacher ratio guarantees time to refocus on education and to learn new strategies to support future learning.Students may start with full or part-time attendance.
There are no fees associated with this program and AHS supports students with transportation tickets and both on-site breakfast and
