Modernization Status

Lord Shaughnessy High School will undergo a mid-size modernization that will right size and upgrade the facility to house Calgary Board of Education’s first Career and Technology Centre. The Career and Technology Centre will provide career and industry oriented technical education and training. This proto-type centre will set the standard for the delivery of Alberta Education’s new Career and Technology Studies program. This multi-year project will bring programs on-line sequentially as the project progresses. On April 27, 2010, the Board of Trustees approved the budget of $9 million. Quinn Young Architects has been selected as the architect for this project. Tenders closed February 8, 2011, with Westcor Construction Ltd. as low bidder. Development Permit issued May 18, 2011. Building Permit issued May 19, 2011. Auto-body, Pre-Engineering Cosmetology, Fabrication and Welding suites are operational. Stage II: on schedule, demolition and piling complete, foundations and grade beams complete. Structural steel 98% complete. Rough in complete and dry-walling started on second floor.
