Silver Springs School is a K-6 school located in the northwest community of Silver Springs, serving the community of Silver Springs. Students from Silver Springs move on to Montgomery School for Grades 7 to 9 and then to Bowness High School.
|
About the School
|
The school was built in 1975. Silver Springs School is located on the same site as the Silver Springs Community Centre providing the school with a large play area. The site includes an outdoor hockey rink, swimming pool, soccer, baseball diamonds and a creative playground. The proximity of the outdoor swimming pool allows our children to walk across the field for lessons in June.
The school is adjacent to beautiful Bowmont Park and in within a block walk of the Birthplace Forest. Both of these sites are used extensively for fieldtrips and various units of study through the school year.
Silver Springs School has a junior high size gymnasium which is used for daily physical education classes and is rented out in the evening for community sports. The school has a music room and a music specialist who teaches music to all students in K-6. The music program includes recorders, orff, drama and choir. Addition music programs are offered to division II students. The school has a large library that is centrally located in the school and is fortunate to have a computer lab with up to date technology. We have a French Language specialist who teaches French to grades 4-6.
