All students at Falconridge School are 21st Century Learners ad the staff at Falconridge is committed to academic excellence. Highly effective teacher planning and assessment help to lead the way toward the personalization of learning for all students.
Literacy and Mathematics skill form foundational learning at Falconridge. In addition to this functional knowledge, students are asked to simultaneously apply new knowledge in a problem-solving context. The student inquiry process is supported thoroughly through technology and through multi-faceted learning opportunities in the Learning Commons.
The school is privileged to have a technology-rich Mac-based environment. In addition to the workstations in the Learning Commons, each classroom has a minimum of three computers to support student learning. Our teachers have also been the beneficiaries of the CBE 1-1 laptop project, and we continue to strive toward a paperless work environment. Each classroom also has a permanent interactive SMART board, or access to one of our many mobile boards. During the 2009-2010 school year, our school has been selected to participate in a joint project between the CBE and Alberta Learning which will provide us with new, upgraded SMART boards and will put one in each classroom. The school also has two mobile laptop carts which can access our wireless network anywhere in the school. Assistive technologies such as Alphasmart Neo keyboards, and programs such as Read and Write Gold support many of our students.
The school website (www.cbe.ab.ca/b375) supports our communication process. Under the Student Showcase tab, our teachers have created grade-team webpages which have been designed to improve communication between school and home. You can also find important school information here.
Our highly professional staff is the backbone of the school. Teaching and support staff members are committed to our students and work diligently toward their success. The School Administration works closely with all staff, including a dedicated Learning Resource Team of five teachers who support our classroom teachers. By working in these ways we are more accurately able to assist with individual learning needs and lower class size ratios.
