Forest Lawn High School is located in the southeast community of Forest Lawn, serving the communities of Abbeydale, Albert Park, Applewood Park, Dover, Erin Woods, Forest Heights, Forest Lawn, Marlborough, Marlborough Park, Penbrooke Meadows, Pineridge, Radisson Heights, Red Carpet/Mountview Mobile Home Park, Rundle, Southview, Temple, and Whitehorn. Junior high feeder schools to Forest Lawn High School are Ernest Morrow, Ian Bazalgette, Langevin, and Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Dr. Gladys McKelvie Egbert,Bob Edwards,Clarence Sansom, Dr. Gordon Higgins, Annie Gale.

About the School

The school was built in 1968 and is situated on 25.0 acres. The school has 84 classrooms, a full commercial foods kitchen, a cosmotology program and a full automotives service program featuring auto-mechanics, auto-body and welding courses at all three grade levels. Forest Lawn also offers Advanced Placement course, an Arts Certificate Program a high school Gifted and Talented Program (GATE) and a full range of academic and complementary courses.

Unique Points

  • An exceptional academic program that is complimented by a selection of academic options such as Spanish, French, Peer Tutoring, Peer Amabassadors, Student Leadership (STAR) and Speech.
  • One of the widest and finest selection of CTS, fine arts, work experience, RAP and vocational programs in the city.
  • The Wellness Center where students can access over a dozen outside agencies. This is a place where confidentiality, help with issues, a place where they can be heard and where they can find a caring individual, are the best aspects about the Center.
  • A Learning Resource Center with 30 computers that students can access to complete assignments, conduct research on the Internet, and produce written reports for classes.
  • A multimedia center with the latest computer technology in audio and video equipment.
  • Championship athletic teams and athletic programs
  • A multicultural school where cultural and ethnic diversity are the greatest strengths, ensuring tolerance and respect are of utmost importance.
  • Multicultural celebrations are held throughout the year to acknowledge and celebrate with various ethnic groups their special days. Ace-It Center which provides support for students to complete assignments they find difficult or to get extra assistance preparing for exams.
  • Transitions program is a program designed to assist students in reaching an acceptable level to apply their learning skills and complete their high school courses.
  • A wonderful Partnership with BP Canadian that has been working together to serve the students and families of Forest Lawn for over ten years.
  • Forest Lawn is home to the Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE) with our first students arriving in Grade 10 in September, 2006.
  • Advanced Placement courses are offered whre possible in Art, English, Math and Science.
