Emily Follensbee School is located in the southwest community of North Glenmore and serves all communities in the city of Calgary. The school is surrounded by naturalized prairieland and overlooks the Elbow River.

About the School
|
The school was originally built in the 1950's and was renovated in 1982. It is situated on 5 acres of land. The school has a Gross Motor Room, Snoezelen Room, Atrium, Therapy Pool and 8 classrooms. Cliffside, an outdoor learning and recreation area was built in 2004.

The school was named after Mrs. Emily Follensbee, who pioneered schooling for children with complex challenges in the 1950's.

- Provides educational programs for students aged 2 1/2 to 14 years of age with multiple, complex learning needs.
- Ungraded classes utilizing Individual Program Plans for programming.

- Cliffside- an outdoor learning and recreation area provides additional opportunities for students with physical, sensory and cognitive impairments
- Contract music therapy to support student growth.
- LPN support for medical/health needs
- Has specialized equipment that supports the development of communication, mobility, and daily living skills.
- Utilizes support from an educational support team (REACH) including: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language pathology, educational consultation - vision, education consultation - deaf and hard of hearing and psychology.
