Western Canada High School is a bilingual school offering a complete range of programs, located in the southwest community of Cliff Bungalow. Western is situated in the heart of the 17th avenue business district of Mount Royal. The school and grounds cover a full city block at 641-17 Ave. bordered by 5A street and College Lane. Student parking is at the rear of the building.

About the School

Western Canada High School has a long tradition of excellence, dating back to the school's beginning in 1903. From that time there have been a number of major renovations, with the last one in 1982. There are over 70 classrooms in the school, including a number of computer labs, 2 gymnasia, a theatre, and technical areas. Major upgrades have occurred many times in the recent past, including the creation of new computer labs, a modern library with computer facilities for research.

About School Name

Western Canada High School's name was taken from the Western Canada College, which stood on this land from the early 1900's until the land was sold to the Calgary Board of Education in 1928. Western Canada College was a private boys college serving Calgary and Southern Alberta.

School Mission

Honouring its tradition of excellence, Western Canada High School is dedicated to the development of Intelligentia, Vires, Virtus – Understanding, Strength, Courage. Western Canada High School prepares students to be knowledgeable, confident, lifelong learners capable of enhancing their lives and the quality of our world.

School Motto

The school motto is Intelligentia, Vires, Virtus – referring to the strength and courage of character Western students have displayed in their lives through service to their country, community and fellow man over the history of the school.
