my 1st ride program
“My 1st Ride” is a school bus orientation program for first time riders. This program is offered free of charge to Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School Division students. The program is designed to educate the parents and kindergarten children about how to ride the school bus safely. My 1st Ride will provide an opportunity for parents and kids to learn about safe school busing practices and the important role parents play to ensure that students are in safe hands, not only on the bus, but on the journey from home to the school bus stop.
The dates for My 1st Ride are:
Saturday, May 26, 2012 at St. Cecilia School
610 Agate Crescent SE
and
Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Mount View School
2004 – 4 Street NE
The automated phone line registration will open April 16, 2012.
The number is 403-640-8867
There will be an animated video, a slide show and a short ride on a school bus. After the bus ride, everyone is invited back into the school to pick up handouts and have a snack. Staff from both of the school boards as well as Southland Transportation and First Student bus companies will be available for questions and information.
The program will take approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours.
Posters will be delivered to all elementary schools the week of January 9, 2012. If you do not receive your poster by January 13, please call Transportation (403-817-7257), another will be sent out.
