registration and fees - calgary transit eligibility
Process
Calgary Transit "youth" passes must be purchased by the student or parent
from a local vendor (i.e., Safeway, Macs, Co-op, 7-11, Transit kiosks,
Transit office, etc.). For a complete list of vendors, click here.
To receive a Calgary Transit Bus Pass Rebate from the Calgary Board
of Education, parents/students must complete a Calgary
Transit Bus Pass Rebate Form T-40 each year. The form is available online or from your child's school. Complete
only one form per family.
- Attach to the rebate form a void personalized cheque or deposit slip which is imprinted
with your name and the account routing number to
indicate the account to which the rebates are to be credited, OR,
have the information in the direct deposit portion of the form
completed by your financial institution.
- The rebate form must be completed annually. Bank account information
IS REQUIRED EVEN IF a rebate was received in the previous school year
and there have not been any changes to the bank account.
- Students are required to show the school their expired
bus pass or submit the cash register receipt during the first two or three school days of the month following.
They must print their name, home phone number and school name legibly
on the back. Students wishing to claim the Federal Tax Credit
can submit to the school a photocopy of the front and back of the transit pass or
the receipt indicating the purchase if they choose.
- Any student who is approved for a waiver of the cost of the pass
will be issued their CT pass each month by Transportation Services.
The September passes will be mailed directly to the school and each
month thereafter, the passes will be sent to the schools for pickup
four (4) days prior to the end of each month. A separate list of these
students will accompany the passes.
- Terms, conditions and deadlines for submission of Transit Bus Passes
for rebate appear on the back of the Calgary
Transit Bus Pass Rebate form.
Grades 7 to 9
The Calgary Transit Bus Pass Rebate will be provided for eligible students
in Grades 7 - 9 at select schools or programs at the discretion of the
CBE. Parents are also entitled to claim the Federal Tax Credit for the
net cost (total cost less the rebate portion of a Calgary Transit
youth bus pass).
