home Transportation Registration and Fees Kindergarten
transportation
registration and fees - kindergarten
- Two-way transportation is provided to eligible students. In the case
of schools with only 1 or 2 students requiring mid-day service, taxis
may be used rather than charter buses.
- Students will be required to register for either the morning or afternoon
class as designated by the school in consultation with Transportation
in order to access mid-day service.
- Parents pay half (1/2) of the transportation fee if mid-day transportation
service is not available. This is only applicable for kindergarten students.
- Stops for kindergarten students will be placed in the same location
(or across the street) as the stops on the morning and afternoon routes
to avoid confusing the children and keeping ride times to a reasonable
length.
- Parents are responsible for ensuring their child's safety to and
from the bus stop. The CBE cannot provide door-to-door service. Parents/guardians
are encouraged to be at the stop to meet the child. If they do not want
their child to get off the bus unless they are there to meet them, it
is the parent's responsibility to teach their child to tell the driver
they cannot get off if they don't see the parent, caregiver, or older sibling.
- All kindergarten children should be tagged at the start of the school
year to identify them to the school bus driver as new riders.
- My 1st Ride is a free bus safety program that introduces parents to bus safety rules in a fun and relaxed environment. In the hour-long, interactive session, using a child-friendly video and presentation, parents and students will learn what to do to stay safe on and around school buses, as well as how to plan for late buses and inclement weather. Students will even have the opportunity to practice riding the big yellow bus!
This program is brought to you by the Calgary Board of Education in partnership with the Calgary Catholic School District, First Student, Southland Transportation and participating sponsors.
