KAREN KRYCZKA
TRUSTEE, WARDS 11 AND 13

Karen Kryczka, Trustee for Wards 11 and 13, was elected as trustee in 2007. Wards 11 and 13 are located in southwest Calgary, west of Macleod Trail.
 
In 2004, Karen retired two-term Member of the Legislative Assembly, representing the Calgary-West Constituency, which was once held by the Honourable Peter Lougheed.  She has extensive professional experience in human resources management.  Karen was also a guidance counsellor/teacher in the Calgary Board of Education for a ten year period.

Karen has been involved in the public sector for many years. She has been a Board member of the Alberta Foundation of the Arts and a member of the Reception Committee for the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.  She is also a member of the Rotary Club of Calgary Sarcee.  She was a volunteer for synchronized swimming, both with the Aquabelles and at the Provincial level. 

Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alberta, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and a Graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology.  She is married to Gord May and they have two children, two step-children and eleven grandchildren.
