Outstanding School Fees Deadline

School fees play an important role in supporting high-quality learning experiences for all students. These fees directly fund materials and opportunities that enrich programs such as:

  • Career and Technology Studies (CTS)
  • Fine Arts
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Field trips

Through these contributions, students benefit from hands-on learning, specialized equipment, and enhanced activities.

Unpaid fees must be covered by the school’s operating budget, which may impact programs and available resources.

Families with outstanding balances are asked to:

  • Log in to their MyCBE account
  • Review payments
  • Submit payment before the end of the school year

Note:

  • Fees are due once they are assigned to a student account
  • Payment is expected by the end of the school year

As part of our process, two notices have already been sent to families with unpaid fees.

Any balances remaining unpaid beyond 180 calendar days may be referred to a third-party collection agency.

We understand that financial circumstances can change, and support is available. Families experiencing hardship may apply for a Central Fee Waiver through MyCBE. Please note that central waivers apply only to central fees (e.g., lunch supervision), while school-based fees are reviewed separately by the school.

School Fees

The Government of Alberta's School Fees Regulation sets out the requirements and limitations related to the fees that a school board may charge.

School fees for the current school year are due when assigned. For school fee inquiries, please contact your child’s school directly.

Fees for the school year are confirmed by the end of August and are posted on this page.

How to Pay School Fees

If you have outstanding school fees, you may do the following:

Create a Parent Account

To create a new account, go to cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

Parent/Guardians will need to use the email on file at their child’s school, as well as their child’s CBE Student ID number and birth date.

The MyCBE sign-in page contains instructions on requesting an access key for students. The access key(s) will be sent by email. Families can use it to create an account, and add their children to their account.

MyCBE Services

You can also sign up for services like transportation or lunch supervision, pay fees and view or print receipts and statements for all of your children in one location. The system is mobile-friendly and works with your smartphone or tablet.

Find technical help here.

  • Pay at your child’s school using debit/credit card
If you need to make a payment at your school, please call ahead to make arrangements.

Find My School Fees

Fees are unique for each student, and are used to cover the cost of their specific activities, field trips, items or services. You can find the list of approved fees for your school in the School Fee Guide.

The CBE offers a paid lunch supervision service for students in Grades 1–6 and full-day kindergarten. This service ensures a supervised and safe space for students to eat and remain on school grounds during the lunch period.

Registration is mandatory: Only registered and paid students are permitted to use this service (fee waivers are available for qualifying families).

Parents must provide lunch: Please note that the program does not supply food or heating appliances.

How to register: Registration and payment must be completed annually through the MyCBE portal, starting in mid-October each year. Lunch supervision registration continues throughout the year and payments can only be accepted once students are registered.

Waivers

No child is ever denied access to an education in the CBE because of an inability to pay. The CBE has a waiver process for families who can’t afford to pay the fees. Visit our Waivers page for more information and the documents required as proof of income or extraordinary circumstance.

Any family needing a waiver is encouraged to apply to the City of Calgary Fair Entry Program to prove income for a CBE waiver, as well as access other benefits of the program. This is optional for families and the CBE will continue to accept other approved documents as proof of income.

Note | Waiver applications are available through your MyCBE account.

Students Assigned to Calgary Transit

For students using Calgary Transit, families will need to purchase monthly bus passes available at many convenience and grocery stores.

All families can apply for the City of Calgary's Fair Entry Program for the low income Calgary Transit pass. This program offers a streamlined application process for City subsidy programs, including reduced rates for transit passes. You can find more information about the program at www.calgary.ca/fairentry.
