TRANSPORTATION FEES (Mandatory Fee for each student riding the bus) The Calgary Board of Education will provide subsidized transportation in accordance with AR6095 for students who attend their attendance area school or directed school and who live within the transportation service area. The transportation service area means the designated zone within an attendance area in which the Calgary Board of Education provides subsidized transportation.
There is a $35.00 increase in annual transportation fees for eligible elementary and junior high students for 2010-2011. The Calgary Board of Education has a family maximum for eligible students that pay Transportation Fees for charter bus services. A rebate of $185 per senior high student is available for students accessing Calgary Transit Services. A rebate of $342.50 per eligible junior high student is available for students accessing Calgary Transit Services. Transportation forms can be found at http://www.cbe.ab.ca/parents/forms.asp ELECTIVE FEES The following is a list of Elective Fees approved by Superintendent’s Team for the 2010-2011 school year for the Calgary Board of Education, with comparative information presented for the 2009-2010 school year. 1. Incidental Activity Fees for Students at Lunchtime This fee was established in order to assist schools in meeting incidental needs of students at lunch time. The amount of the fee is set annually by schools and fees shall not exceed the following maximums.
2. Elementary Noon Supervision Fee The Calgary Board of Education offers noon supervision to all students in Grades 1 to 6 (including Kindergarten with full-day program). Annually, schools with CBE funded extended Kindergarten and Grades 1 to 9 bus eligible students receive allocations that may be used to provide for noon supervision services. Students in most Special Education classes already receive funding for noon supervision through Special Education class top-up, and with few exceptions as outlined in CBE’s Resource Allocation guidelines, should not be included in the list of bus eligible students. In addition to school resource allocations, individual schools may also charge noon supervision fees to students who are not eligible for charter bus transportation to help defray the costs for noon supervision and related activities. Fee maximums are established based on the average estimated per student cost of noon supervision activities. The following maximum annual amounts were approved for the 2010-2011 school year for a 5-day per week program:
NOTE: For those schools operating a 4-day per week program, the maximum annual fee is $230.00 for the 2010-2011 school year. 3. Musical Instrument Registration Fee
4. Student Parking Fee A Parking Fee may be charged to students by schools for those students wishing access to on-site parking at schools.
