Since being elected in fall 2021, the Board of Trustees has been advocating on a number of important issues in support public education and the best interests of students in the CBE.
Provincial Budget not Keeping Pace

Budget 2025-26 does not provide the necessary funding for a growing school board. This year the CBE received an increase to provincial funding to account for increased enrolment. However, the budget does not address the impact of inflation or the real cost of supporting students with increasingly complex learning needs.

On Nov.18, 2024, at the fall general meeting of the Alberta School Board Association the CBE voted in favour of a position statement that sexual health education remain an "opt out" for parents in Alberta.
