Creating a culture of well-being is shared work. It is shaped every day through our relationships, our interactions with each other and the environments we create for our students. When students feel safe, valued, connected and supported, they are better able to engage in their learning and thrive in life. Our Student Well-Being Framework and Employee Well-Being Strategy recognize that supporting the well-being of the adults in our system helps build healthy, positive environments for students. CBE’s Education Plan includes a focused effort to strengthen learning and well-being for middle school students (ages 10-15), in response to opportunities identified through student surveys and school data. At the Oct. 27 public Board meeting, Trustees heard how targeted supports in literacy, mathematics, well-being and engagement are helping students feel connected, supported and successful. Progress will continue to be monitored through the Board’s Results policies and the Annual Education Results Report.

Families are reminded to be cautious during the coming months as it gets colder and darker. Everyone is encouraged to follow the rules of the road, adhere to parking expectations and use crosswalks, particularly in and around school zones. Traffic safety is a shared responsibility that requires the support and cooperation of all drivers and pedestrians.
Students should also be prepared for changing weather conditions and families using transportation are encouraged to have a back-up plan in the event of delayed buses.

ASCA will be offering a virtual workshop to all CBE school councils on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2027 at 7 PM. Registration details will be available in early 2027.
School Councils would like their school community to be dynamic, exciting places, where parents feel authentically engaged in supporting and enhancing student learning. Using local context, define effective engagement, identify existing challenges, explore possible solutions and create goals and plans focused on creating engagement opportunities for the school community which aligns with the expectations of the Assurance Framework.
