Welcome to our school system, with more than 250 schools across Calgary. Each school is led by a principal and supported by one of seven Area Office teams, working together to provide strong leadership and support for students and families.
Our schools are welcoming, safe and caring environments where students can learn, build friendships, and explore their talents and interests. Each school reflects its unique community, shaped by students, staff, families and local partners working together to support success.
Students are assigned to a designated school based on their home address and chosen program. Depending on space and availability, this school may be in your community or a nearby area.
Use the Find a School tool to discover your designated school, explore program options, and learn more about schools across the city. As Calgary continues to grow, we also adapt through new school construction, modernization projects, program changes and ongoing community consultation.

Building & Modernizing Schools
Planning for Growth and Modern Learning
Calgary’s rapid population growth—especially in newer suburban communities—has increased the need for new schools. At the same time, many existing schools are over 50 years old and require modernization to better support today’s students and learning needs.
Managing Space for Students
Every CBE student has the right to a quality learning environment and program choice. As Calgary grows, enrolment changes lead to new schools being built and adjustments to older schools.
Accommodation Planning & Projects
School capital priorities are submitted annually to Alberta Education & Childcare. The provincial government decides when and where new schools are built.
