June is an exciting month for Indigenous ways of being, belonging, doing, and knowing:
- June 1-30: National Indigenous History Month in Canada
- June 14-21: Indigenous Awareness Week in Calgary
- June 21: National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada
All CBE staff, students, and families are invited to participate in upcoming city-wide events! Check out the Indigenous Awareness Week Calgary website for a list of celebrations and gatherings happening throughout the week of June 14–21, including a Powwow on Saturday, June 14 at the Elbow River Camp.
The Indigenous Education Team also invites school leaders to reflect on how the Commūn-I-Tea Protocol can guide your school’s planning — now and into the new school year.
For those within the CBE, June is a powerful time to gather with your Indigenous Education committee and/or leadership team to learn about and then plan a Fall Commūn-I-Tea gathering to welcome and make relatives with Indigenous students and families.
The Indigenous Education Team would love an invite, too. Hand to heart for all that you do.
