Overview
Histoire, fondements et théorie de l’apprentissage scolaire (EDU F 245) will introduce students to the study of schools of thought and major theoretical trends that have influenced education. Students will be encouraged to reflect on the various pedagogical trends that have emerged and explore their pedagogical implications in the context of teaching in Alberta.

Eligibility
Open to CBE French Immersion High School students who:
- Are in Grade 11 or 12 during the program
- Have competencies in the four domains of language learning (speaking, listening, reading, writing)
- Are keen to experience a post-secondary course through an online format
- Have a recommendation from a French teacher attesting to the student’s ability to complete postsecondary academic work in French
- Have completed (or are on track to complete) the following pre/co-requisite courses:
- French Language Arts 20-1 or 20-2 (minimum 80%)
- English Language Arts 10-1 or English Language Arts 10-2 (minimum 60%)
Location & Delivery
This course is offered online, synchronous - students will meet live with their instructor during scheduled times.
Online synchronous learning means participating in live, real-time classes where you interact with your instructor and classmates simultaneously.

An easier home school course load may be sufficient, depending on the student’s work habits.
Workload
Students can expect a total of 2.5 online synchronous hours per week and approximately 1-2 hours of independent work per week for a total of 3-5 hours per week.

Considerations
- Online synchronous courses are live with the post-secondary instructor. They run at set times and attendance is required.
- Students must have space in their school timetable to accommodate the program times.
- Students must also have time in their lives outside of school to complete work for their Dual Credit program in addition to their regular school assignments.
- Students must meet all course assignments, quizzes, and test deadlines in order to be successful.
- Students must submit a personal learning schedule with their application, which outlines when they will work on their Dual Credit coursework outside of class time.
- Students must be registered as a full-time student, taking at least one course at their home high school during the program (work experience excluded).
- Students will be expected to communicate regularly with both their CBE supervising teacher and their course instructor.
How to Apply
- Read through the course(s) and/or program(s) of interest.
- Review program choice with your school Off-Campus Coordinator and/or Guidance Counsellor for program readiness and timetabling concerns.
- You are highly encouraged to attend the Unique Pathways Information Night to ask questions of our program partners and determine if the program is a good fit for you. Connect with your Off-Campus Coordinator or Guidance counsellor if you are unable to attend.
- Download and fill in the Dual Credit Application Form Package when available.
- Refer to the application checklist and ensure all items are complete.
- Book an appointment with your Off-Campus Coordinator and/or Guidance Counsellor before the deadline to complete your application, including signatures from all parties.
- The school will submit the application to Unique Pathways on your behalf.
