Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Operations (Strategic Sourcing)
Strategic Sourcing supports schools and service units by:
- coordinating the acquisition of goods and services
- managing competitive procurement processes
- negotiating and administering contracts
- conducting market and sourcing analysis
- supporting responsible supplier engagement and development
- promoting ethical procurement practices
- establishing strategic sourcing initiatives and system-wide agreements
- supporting cooperative and group purchasing opportunities
- maintaining vendor information and onboarding processes
Competitive Bid Process
Invitations to Tender, Requests for Proposal, and Requests for Quotation with a value of $75,000 or higher are posted on
Alberta Purchasing Connection and the CBE electronic procurement platform,
Bonfire.
All submissions must be uploaded electronically through the
CBE Bonfire Portal.
Unsolicited Proposals
The CBE has established a process for reviewing unsolicited proposals submitted by vendors.
Vendors are encouraged to review the

Vendor Performance Management
The CBE’s Vendor Performance Management (VPM) program supports consistent, transparent, and objective evaluation of vendor performance across applicable contracts.
The program is designed to:
- support effective contract management
- strengthen service delivery outcomes
- promote accountability and continuous improvement
- manage performance-related risk
- ensure value for public funds
