Flags at CBE Schools and Buildings

According to AR 1029 Operation of Schools and AR 3074 Flag and Anthem​, the national flag of Canada must be flown from the flagpole of all schools every school day.

Flags may be flown at half-mast to recognize significant events and occasions at the direction of the Chief Superintendent of Schools or delegate. The Chief Superintendent’s Office will receive direction on lowering flags through Alberta Education at the direction of the Prime Minister’s Office through Canadian Heritage, or the Premier’s Office through the Alberta Protocol Office.

​Sept. 30, 2023 - Flags will be half-masted at the end of the day Thurs, Sep 28 and raised on Mon, Oct 2.​
​National Day for Truth and Reconciliation​* – the day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
​Nov. 11, 2023

Remembrance Day* – to mark and honour the memory of ​​all Canad​ians​​ who have served their country in time of war.


Feb. 29, 2024 - Flags will be half-masted until the morning of Monday, March 25​​

​To recognize the passing of the late Right Honourable Martin Brian Mulroney, former prime minister of Canada.​

​​​April 28, 2024​
​Day of Mourning* – the day is for all those who have suffered and died in the workplace (Worker's Mourning Day)​​
