Lottery is when a school, program or grade is identified to be at, or over capacity
As Calgary continues to grow and evolve, so does our student population. Meaning some schools may meet or exceed their capacity.
The lottery process was established to ensure fair and equitable access to schools, programs (regular, alternative), or grades with a student population that is either at capacity or over capacity. This process provides a consistent approach across our system.
School lotteries are held in February each year and have been completed for the 2024-25 school year. All new student registrations at schools at or over their capacity will be added to the callback list (based on the appropriate priority level) in the order they are received.
